    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    Last year’s finalists

    • Last year’s GHP finalists received a set of gifts, and the state is still working to honor all of the rising senior finalists with a GHP Day at the State Capitol in a post COVID-19 environment.
    • Each 2020 rising junior finalist will be part of GHP 2021. They do not have to reapply or go through the selection process.

    This year’s selection process:

    • All Cobb County interviews will occur remotely via Microsoft Teams or Zoom during the first week of November.
    • GHP will simultaneously prepare for a physical and virtual program for summer 2021.
    • Candidates MUST be able to commit to all of these dates as there are NO makeups:

*Semifinalists will be required to attend the interviews/auditions on Saturday, February 27, 2021.

*The 2021 session of GHP will be held June 13 – July 10, 2021 at Berry College

    in Rome, GA.

    Walton’s Schedule

    • Students interested in applying for an Academic or Foreign Language area must express interest via email to the department coordinator by Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 11:59PM.
    • Academic and Foreign Language interviews will take place throughout the day on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, via Zoom.
    • Fine Arts Auditions & Applications will be due virtually by Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 11:59PM. Applicants need to let their ensemble director know of their interest.

    Application Tips

    • You should fill out your part of the application completely!  Do a very good job and give thoughtful, detailed answers.  This part REALLY matters.
    • The teacher recommendation should be sent to a teacher who knows you well as a student in your major content.  You might need to help them with information about awards and leadership.  Make sure you give them enough time to do a good job – interviewers will make decisions about you based on what your teachers write/don’t write about you.
    • Do not ask for a copy of your PSAT scores or transcript from the records room. The school GHP coordinator will do this for you.
    • Please follow the directions carefully and take the time to polish it accordingly, including the directions to sign in blue ink and a consistency in fonts.
