We look forward to celebrating your graduation day on Friday, May 28th at 9:00 AM at Cantrell Stadium on the campus of McEachern High School. Each graduate will receive four tickets for family to attend in person. The graduation will be live streamed so other family members can watch at home. More information will be sent closer to the graduation date.
Cantrell Stadium is located on the campus of McEachern High School at 2400 New Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127. From Macland Road turn south onto New Macland. From Richard D. Sailors Parkway turn north onto New Macland. Additional approach information and alternate routes are available on the district website (www.cobbk12.org/graduation).
Accessible and special assistance parking will be available in front of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) using either the north entrance on New Macland Road or the northwest entrance Gaydon Road.
Graduates are to park in the Taylor Farm parking lot (labeled GP on the campus map) using the entrance on Brand Road. Graduates should be encouraged to bring/wear comfortable shoes for walking from the Taylor Farm parking lot to the Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Gym (HPEW) Building and Cantrell Stadium.
Guests will park in any available lot (#1, #2, and #3 on the map) using entrances on New Macland Road and Gaydon Road. Overflow parking will be available off-site. Directions will be available on the district website (www.cobbk12.org/graduation).
Guests with disabilities and elderly guests needing individualized assistance should enter the campus of McEachern High School at either the north entrance on New MacLand Road or the northwest entrance on Gaydon Road. Accessible parking (labeled as ADA on the map) will be available in front of the Performing Arts Center (labeled as PAC on the campus map). Officers will direct guests to parking.
Cap and Gown distribution:If you did not pick up your cap and gown on Wednesday, March 3rd you can come to the front office from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to pick it up.
The Senior Picnic & Tailgate will be held on Friday, April 23 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Students will arrive at school in their vehicles and will enter the main entrance, driving through the carpool lanes before turning onto Baseball Drive (no more than four students per vehicle). After picking up a prepackaged lunch, raffle ticket, and gift, they will be directed to student parking (E lot) where they will fill every 3rd parking space. Each student will have one space to park in and a second space to play in. The theme is “College Bound,” so it is recommended that students wear shirts and decorate spaces and vehicles with their university’s logo and colors. Here are a few ideas on what students may want in their spaces: pop-up tent, chairs, flags, balloons, sidewalk chalk, corn hole, ladder ball, or giant Jenga. We’re in need of parent volunteers, if you would like to help out please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or email@example.com.
In order to maintain safety for all, students will be required to remain in their designated spaces, though they may certainly engage with students in other spaces in a socially distanced manner: throwing footballs, frisbees, water balloons, etc. We ask that students remove any and all trash from their spaces prior to leaving the picnic and tailgate.
And of course, if any student does not feel comfortable parking for the tailgate, they may come to pick up their lunch and gift and then go home.
If the day should be threatened by bad weather, a rain date of April 28 has been reserved for the picnic & tailgate.
Senior Evening of Inspiration will be held on Monday, May 24 at 6:00pm. This is event is organized by PTSA and more information will be coming.
The Senior Regalia Pick Up will be held on Thursday, May 27 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This is the day before graduation. Students and families are asked to arrive within a designated time window. The list of arrival times, organized by last name, is as follows: A-C (10:00), D-H (11:00), I-L (12:00), M-Q (1:00), R-Z (2:00).
Vehicles will enter the main entrance, driving through the carpool lanes before turning onto Baseball Drive. At the beginning of the bus lanes, vehicles will stop at a tent where graduates will provide their name for announcement by the DJ and pick up regalia (cords to wear with the graduation gown). Teachers and well-wishers will line the bus lane, cheering each senior as their name is broadcast. The theme is “Luau,” so it is recommended that students dress in Hawaiian-styled shirts and/or wear leis and decorate their vehicles with window paint, banners, or other festive and creative décor. We’re in need of parent volunteers to assist with this event. If you would like to help please email Melissa.Tatman@cobbk12.org, Richard.firstname.lastname@example.org, or Sarah.Skeean@cobbk12.org
